HelpMoKo

Privacy Policy

Last updated: July 2026. HelpMoKo respects your privacy and complies with the Philippine Data Privacy Act of 2012 (RA 10173). This page explains, in plain language, what we collect and why.

What we collect

  • Account details: your name, mobile number, and password (stored encrypted), plus optional email, birthday, gender, and profile photo.
  • Addresses you save, so HelpMoKo Pros know where the service happens.
  • Location:if you tap “Use my location”, we read your device's precise GPS position to show only the HelpMoKo Pros who serve your area — and, if you are a Pro, to set the centre of your service area. This is always your choice: you can pick a city from a list instead, and you can change or clear it any time. We keep only the most recent position, never a history of where you've been.
  • HelpMoKo Pro verification documents: a government ID photo and a selfie. These are visible only to the applicant and HelpMoKo administrators — never to clients or other users — and are used solely to verify identity.
  • Activity on the platform: bookings, reviews, messages and shared photos, notifications, and payment status (we do not store card or e-wallet numbers — payments are processed by our licensed payment partner).
  • Emergency contact (optional), used only to help you in a safety situation.
  • Device and usage data: if you turn on push notifications, the notification address your browser or phone gives us (so we can send booking alerts to that device), plus in-app activity such as searches and the services you tap, which we use to improve results and suggestions.

How we use it

  • To connect Clients and HelpMoKo Pros and run bookings end to end.
  • To verify HelpMoKo Pro identities and keep the community safe.
  • To process payments and prevent fraud.
  • To notify you about your bookings, messages, and reviews.
  • To investigate reports and enforce our Terms of Service.

What we never do

  • We never sell your personal data.
  • We never show your ID documents to other users.
  • We never share your exact address with anyone except the HelpMoKo Pro you booked.

Who we share data with

Only what is necessary, and only with service providers who process it on our behalf:

  • Our payment processor (PayMongo), to handle online payments. Card and e-wallet details go straight to them — we never see or store them.
  • Our SMS provider (Semaphore), which receives your mobile number so we can text you verification codes and booking alerts.
  • Our hosting provider, where the app and database run.
  • AI providers— currently Anthropic (Claude), and optionally OpenAI or xAI, depending on what our team has configured. We use them for a small number of clearly-labelled assistant features: helping our verification team review Pro applications (which sends the applicant's name, bio, skills, services and the submitted ID and selfie photos), and suggesting a chat reply when you tap the suggest button (which sends the recent messages in that conversation). These providers process the data to return a result and do not use it to train their models. You can simply not use the suggest-reply button if you would rather no message text leave HelpMoKo.
  • Authorities, when validly required by Philippine law.

We never sell your data, and we never share it for advertising.

Your rights

Under the Data Privacy Act you may access, correct, or ask us to delete your personal data, and withdraw consent. Email support@helpmoko.com and we will respond. You can also delete your account yourself at any time, right inside the app: Profile → Account & security → Delete my account.

How long we keep data

As long as your account is active. When you delete your account we remove your personal details and permanently delete your uploaded files — profile photo, portfolio photos, chat photos, and your government ID and selfie. We keep only what the law requires us to retain (for example, payment records) for the legally required period, and past bookings and reviews stay on the other person's record with your name removed.
